[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Showtime Academy is an entertainment based, progressive-minded non-profit organization who work directly with local school systems providing both grassroots & formal education to young people who desire to enter the world of performing arts. Through their three signature programs—Singing For Success, Dancing For Success, and Acting For Success—they’ve awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship money.
The Success Series is far more than just another variation of “The Voice” or imitation of “American Idol”, they have created a part talent competition, part industry boot camp, and part life coaching system designed to help shape them into first-class individuals.
Although the grassroots information and lessons provided are not groundbreaking, the innovative grassroots approach admittedly is. The Academy’s 3 major pillars: Love, Honesty & Respect. are constantly encouraged throughout all workshop courses beginning with the very humbling “Statistics and Reality Checks”, then later to include: “Fiscal discipline and responsibility”, “Taxation for Artists”, “Drugs & Alcohol”, “Maintaining dignity through peer pressure & trends”, “Staying relevant: The key to longevity”, “Why formal Education is still important”, “Mental Wellness” & “Nutrition & Fitness”.
All courses are facilitated by industry recognized leaders who have walked the difficult walk of their particular subject matter and are excited about encouraging and showing young aspiring artists how to navigate the many potholes the entertainment world often provides.
Once the workshops have concluded, each participating high school holds an audition to find the artist best suited to represent them in one of the Academy’s 3 popular competitions, namely Singing for Success, Dancing For Success or Acting for Success.
Each competition will then provide the winner with a FULL Scholarship to either Berklee College of Music (Voice), The Neighborhood Playhouse (Acting) or Alvin Ailey School of Dance (Dance). All competitions will be judged by highly qualified and reputable judges.
The Showtime Academy – Creating a new generation of “artistic thinkers” based on Vision, Values and Education.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e believe that life requires three fundamental Values for true success: Love, Honesty, and Respect. These three elements will pervade every relevant relationship in their chosen field. They are at the core of their relationship with their art, their relationships with the people they meet, and above all, their relationship with themselves. “Love the art. Be honest with yourself. Respect everyone at all times, no matter what.”

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hat we’ve created is part talent competition, part industry boot camp, and part life coaching. All to provide a crash course into everything that goes into creating a first class individual.
The Showtime Academy was born out of a desire to give young entertainers two primary things: Education and Experience. Some of our awesome “Grassroots educational” workshops include Fiscal Responsibility, Why Education is important for aspiring artists, Statistics and Reality Checks & Maintaining your dignity. Our workshops cut through all the nonsense and inform our kids with grounded and practical understandings of what it takes to succeed in the music industry.
With our competition, it is much more than just another variation of “The Voice” or imitation of “American Idol.” The entire goal is to prepare our participants for all that “life” has to offer while pursuing their dreams. We don’t promise a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Our winners get something real: a full, four-year scholarship to an internationally renowned performing arts college worth over $200,000.
We believe that life requires three fundamental elements for true success: Love, Honesty, and Respect. These three elements will pervade every relevant relationship in their chosen field. They are at the core of their relationship with their art, their relationships with the people they meet, and above all, their relationship with themselves.

Over the years it has awarded tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to students embarking on a dream of becoming a singer, actor or professional dancer.
The Success Series has always enjoyed fantastic support from incredible artists such as Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson, Grammy Winner Fantasia Barrino, Dove Awardees Trin-i-tee 5:7, Mary Mary, Shirley Ceasar and many many more who believed in and supported the program wholly.

In 2010, the Success Series flew to NYC and performed to a sold out Apollo Theater and it was that experience which gave birth to the idea of reaching and educating a larger group of young people. In 2015 The Success Series was officially registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Atlanta, GA and immediately began research and team building. The Showtime Academy is devoted to providing as many young aspiring artists with the true knowledge they desperately need to increase their chances of success in their entertainment career..
In 2017, The Success Series is rebranding to The Showtime Academy™ to better capture the mission of the program for today’s marketplace; It is a major undertaking, but one that its founder and executive producer Kevin Damon Bean is very passionate about. Kevin’s vision is born out of first hand observations and experience of what happens to young artists when they are blinded by the glitz and glamor of show business and do not have a solid foundation of how the business actually works.
